I’m not big into comics, but I am a huge fan of super heroes.
While I didn’t get my fix through the books, I did grow up watching the various cartoon series based on Marvel characters, X-Men and Spider-Man, in particular.
These shows always held my attention in a big way, and I get that same feeling from seeing them come to life on the big screen.
Unfortunately, a couple of the more recent in the X-Men series have been a bit disappointing, in my opinion. I enjoyed “X-Men: First Class,” but it just didn’t feel as epic as the previous in the series (not counting “X-Men: The Last Stand”).
The latest release, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” isn’t like that at all.

One of my favorite anime sites, CrunchyRoll, has debuted the new looks of the Sailor Scouts for the upcoming Sailor Moon reboot.
The reboot, which is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on July 5, 2014, is looking to be pretty great, but I’m doing my best to avoid any sort of spoilers, so I don’t know much about it other than “Yeah! New Sailor Moon!”

Some of the expected changes sound like they could really bring about a new twist on the old arcade experience.

Features Editor Amy Nichol Smith signed up a while back for a service that sends her cool food items each month.
I was a bit jealous, at the time, because it was such a neat idea, but I had no interest in the items she was sent.
After a while, I had forgotten about such services, until I stumbled upon one called Loot Crate, which seemed like it was designed for people like me.

I’m a big fan of Kickstarter.
I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve never had one completely crash and burn, and this is a great example of that good fortune.

I’ve not done one of these before, but it seemed like a good time to give it a go. I’ll be writing a column about it for The Monitor this week, and I’ll post a link to it once it goes live at TheMonitor.com. Until then, enjoy the unboxing video, and click here if you’d like to sign up for yourself.
